Overview
Molly Brayshay takes Land Agent Hugh Humphreys to be her lawful wedded husband at St Martin's Church, Laugharne, the ice-cream provided at the reception being much appreciated by one small boy. The couple depart and Susan Buckley, of 'Castell Gorfod', Llangynin, leaves too, for school, her parents heading off to enjoy boating holidays on the Norfolk Broads and the Thames in 'Voyager'. Pendine Sands play host to 'Seafarer', the Johnson/Mollison plane bound for NY.
William Howell Buckley (1896-1981) who shot this film was a client of Hugh Humphreys, founder of the firm Llewelyn Humphreys, Carmarthen. The county coroner, Dr Rowland C Thomas, capped twice for Wales, is seen at the reception wearing a top hat and smoking a cigarette. The “flying sweethearts” – Amy and Jim – left Pendine Sands on 22/7/1933 for New York, after waiting a number of weeks for suitable weather over the Atlantic, their plane and the anticipated event attracting considerable attention. A lack of fuel, despite extra tanks, forced a crash landing at Bridgeport Airport in Connecticut. This title also includes footage of the ship 'Herzogin Cecilie', grounded on 25/4/1936 near Salcombe, Devon.
