Carmarthenshire: Fastest Car Dash in History!
Malcolm Campbell's Bluebird throws the gauntlet down to competitors by breaking the land speed record at Pendine Sands
Overview
The land speed record was advanced nine times in the 1920s; seven times by the three Brits featured in this unusually comprehensive newsreel story. It focuses on Malcolm Campbell's 174mph record in the first Bluebird, which broke the previous high mark of JG Parry-Thomas in 'Babs', who's also featured. Waiting in the wings, and trailed in the film, was Henry Seagrave in Sunbeam, which would break the 200mph mark the following month.
