A railway year to remember, with celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Stockton to Darlington line, the opening of the National Railway Museum and steam engines aplenty.

Overview
A treble treat from 1975, as we get an early sight of the newly restored Black Five locomotive 45428, re-named the ‘Eric Treacy’ on the North York Moors Railway; the cavalcade of locomotives to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington line; and the opening of the National Railway Museum in York by the Duke of Edinburgh.
This is one of a large collection of films made by Ken Clough, a member of the York section of the supporters of the North York Moors Railway. The Eric Treacy locomotive was named, whilst being restored, after the Rt Rev Eric Treacy, at the time Bishop of Wakefield. Eric Treacy joined the Railway Photographic Society in 1935, shortly after joining the clergy in 1932. He went on to become one of the great photographers of the railway amassing a collection of 2,000 photos now housed in the National Railway Museum in York. He died of a heart attack whilst waiting to photograph the Evening Star on Appleby Station in 1978. The locomotive returned from a £600,000 restoration after an 11 year absence in 2010.
