It was the height of the 1920s Riviera scene and looking to teach himself directing and foster connections in London, artist-turned-filmmaker Harry Lachman teamed up with Hollywood director Rex Ingram and a young Michael Powell, to make a series of comic travelogues. Bryony Dixon, curator of silent film at the BFI national archive, explores the origins of these entertaining short films and Powell’s involvement in making them.
