How to Improve Your Play

Patrick Hughes shows how to become a better tennis player.

1947 20 mins

Overview

Tennis player Patrick Hughes, multiple grand slam doubles winner during the 1930s, is our tutor in this very detailed instructional film from just after WWII. With commentary by Raymond Glendenning - a voice particularly evocative of the era - the film shows Pat in action in the 1933 Davis Cup final against the French, where he teamed up with Fred Perry, Bunny Austin and Harry Lee to form a winning side. Then, with the help of some young club players, he shows us some common mistakes and how to correct them.
