Overview
In addition to hunting scenes (on foot with bassetts, on horseback with otter hounds), this film also includes shots of life at 'Castell Gorfod', Llangynin, home of Lt. Col. W H Buckley, once Master of the Carmarthenshire Foxhounds. He drives an aged hound van from its garage and his companion, Mary Lewes, plays on the lawn with hound puppies. Her love of flowers prompts a small posy from one of the men arriving at the house for a Buckley's Brewery directors' meeting.
The Fourshires Basset Hounds are seen out in the field in pursuit of hares in 1967 (the four shires being Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire). There is a meet at the Cresselly Arms, Cresswell Quay, Pembrokeshire on 2/2/1970, of the Heythrop Hunt (based in Oxfordshire it would visit Wales to hunt otters on the River Teifi) and shots of a meet of the South Pembrokeshire Foxhounds at the Green Bridge Inn, Pendine, on 7/2/1970. The Hawkstone and the Dumffrieshire Otter Hounds (red caps in evidence and a grey bowler hat which indicates a Grand Meet) enjoy a joint meet at Pont-tyweli, on the River Teifi. NB: None of the animals being hunted are seen in this film.
