Overview
Yorkshire sheep farmer Johnny (OβConnor) is dedicated to keeping his familyβs farm afloat after his fatherβs stroke. He finds release from his exhausting everyday life through binge drinking and casual sex. When lambing season comes along, his family recruits some help in the form of Romanian worker Gheorghe (Secareanu), who conjures unspoken emotions in Johnny.
Francis Leeβs astonishing debut feature has won widespread acclaim since its debut at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, winning major awards at Berlin and the BIFAs, and establishing the director as a powerful new voice in British filmmaking. Godβs Own Country was made with the support of the BFI using funds from the National Lottery.
