Director: Tomm Moore

Overview

Tomm Moore follows his acclaimed debut The Secret of Kells with another Oscar-nominated animation, a richly evoked tale of Celtic magic and folklore. Following the magical journey of Ben and his little sister Saoirse - the last Seal-child – as they embark across a fading world of ancient legend in an attempt to return to their home by the sea, Song of the Sea is an entrancing, enchanting family delight.

With its focus on folklore and forgotten shape-shifting creatures, Moore’s film is reminiscent of the best work from Studio Ghibli, and a reminder that such marvels of hand-drawn animation are just as likely to come from Ireland as Japan.
