Good Luck to You, Leo Grande
Nancy Stokes (Emma Thompson), a retired schoolteacher and widow, is yearning for adventure and really good sex, in comedian Katy Brand’s BAFTA-nominated drama.
Director: Sophie Hyde
Overview
Nancy Stokes (Academy Award-winner Emma Thompson), a retired schoolteacher and widow, is yearning for the sexual adventure that eluded her marriage. She books a hotel room, buys a satin negligée and enlists the services of sex worker Leo Grande (Daryl McCormack). As they reveal more about – and of – themselves to each other, the power dynamics shift and their well-worn masks begin to slip.
Written by comedian Katy Brand and directed by Sophie Hyde (52 Tuesdays, winner at Sundance and Berlin), this warm and funny movie - recipient of four BAFTA nominations, including for Outstanding British Film - shines a spotlight on female pleasure and identity.
