Drama 1955 57 mins

Director: Denis Kavanagh

Overview

Veteran player John Bentley stars as a Hungarian refugee tasked with proving his loyalty by returning to Budapest and helping to smuggle a scientist into Britain. The man is faced with a mission full of doubt, mystery, and possibly danger in Kavanagh’s tense and topical drama.

Kavanagh’s film, also known as Escape from the Iron Curtain, was one of the first thrillers to tackle the theme of Cold-War immigration. It also features a leading turn from Bentley, who had a varied and successful career in other films such as Calling Paul Temple (1948) and Submarine Seahawk (1958).
