Overview
The war is over and on Victory in Europe Day - 8/5/1945 - people are ready to celebrate. The Iles family share champagne and cigarettes with friends in the front garden of their home in Heathwood Road, Cardiff, and children party in Heathway and Albert Street, a piano dragged outside providing a musical accompaniment to the merry-making. Bonfires and neon lights light up the dark, putting paid to the black-out of the war years.
