That’s how it’s often remembered, based as it was on a ludicrously long and complicated acronym, contrasting with the simple clarity of the best road safety messaging. On the plus side, it’s left us with some fun films. Jon Pertwee fronted a live action spot, while here we have the even greater pleasure of getting SPLINKed by kids' TV hero Derek Griffiths - in cartoon form!
