Overview

In 1981, the International Year of Disabled Persons, Mr and Mrs Herbert Gregory of Holland-on-Sea recorded on Super 8 colour film a day out for disabled children at the local Red Cross Centre, otherwise known as the Darby & Joan Club. The Red Cross volunteers, wearing the traditional navy uniform, wait for the coach party of children to arrive to welcome them to the centre, where they are treated to a fish and chip lunch.

Produced by Mr and Mrs Herbert Gregory of Holland-on-Sea, who had retired to the Clacton area from Watford. Mr Gregory joined the Clacton Cine Club and contributed to many of the Club’s joint productions as well as making his own films of local people, places and events.
