Overview

This public information film is a warning to dog owners: your canine companions, be they lap dogs or labradors, westies or wolfhounds, are all capable of worrying sheep and control must therefore be exercised over them in the countryside. 10,000 sheep are killed or injured by dogs every year – dogs that may be considered gentle and friendly – and the penalty for such damage is a fine (best case scenario) or termination of the dog’s life (worst case scenario).

The Ministry of Information, producing films/leaflets that e.g. warned the British public of dangers or acted as propaganda during WWII, was disbanded with the arrival of peace but replaced by the Central Office of Information, so that the government could continue to disseminate advice or guidance on any number of issues e.g. health, education, rights. The National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales holds a number of such films that were provided with Welsh language sound tracks.
