Parade on Morecambe Central Pier (1902)

A formal parade gives way to jollity on the pier in Edwardian Morecambe.

Non-Fiction 1902 2 mins Silent

Overview

A well-drilled procession of what is presumably the Lad's Naval Brigade kicks off this parade, with some of the older lads carrying (replica?) rifles. The images lack the clarity of Mitchell and Kenyon's other Morecambe films, and the majestic pavilion provides a ghostly pale background, but the sense of occasion shines through all the same. The mood visibly relaxes once the marchers have passed.

At the very end, a man raises his own box camera to take a picture of Mitchell & Kenyon's camera operator. Does this photo survive?
