Panorama - Windsor Castle

This panorama takes in Windsor and Eton Riverside station, Windsor Castle, and plenty of Victorians at leisure.

Non-Fiction 1898 Silent

Overview

This panorama of Windsor, filmed on a sunny day from the south bank of the Thames, was originally part of a collection held by George Henderson. The showman from Stockton exhibited and produced films in the early days of cinema when the medium was still a touring curiosity; whether this one was made, or even shown, by Henderson is uncertain. Nevertheless it can be taken as an attractive example of the sort of short subject that made up an early film programme, in between more urgent newsreel or bawdy vaudevillian material.
