Overview

Goodbye to narrow, dangerous bends in the road! Widening of the highway between Ty'n y Groesffordd and Llanarmon-yn-Iâl primary school causes havoc on Polling Day but ultimately provides a safer route for children to walk to and from the school – and pigs, too, are seen using the new road! Mothers can now rest easy.

W H Crawford, who shot this footage, worked for a haulage company – Briggs - in Liverpool, and he captures detailed footage of the various diggers and lorries involved in the roadworks. Crawford and his family came to live in their holiday home in Llanarmon – 'Ellerslie' - in 1940, after they were bombed out of their home in Liverpool. Crawford delighted in recording on film the people and events in the Denbighshire community which offered sanctuary to many a member of the extended Crawford family during WWII. The full name of the village is Llanarmon-yn-Iâl.
