Football. 86 in the Shade

Arsenal v Leeds United from Highbury in the opening match of the 1929-30 season.

Non-Fiction 1929 1 mins Silent

Overview

The 1929-30 season began with a warm spell. As Arsenal and Leeds United players (in stripes) took to the pitch, both would have been hoping for better than last season's mid-table finish. Topical Budget positioned their newsreel cameras close behind the goal line and on the half way line, picking up lively spells of match action against the backdrop of a huge - and probably hot-headed - crowd. The result, 4-0, was a convincing victory for Arsenal.
