Overview

The Bromsgrove Court Leet is an annual event which marks the anniversary of the granting of a charter by King John that allowed the Worcestershire town to hold a fair on 24 July of each year. As with many such ancient traditions it is of course inevitable that the local councillors will be required to quaff large amounts of ale - purely as a way of checking that it is suitable for sale at the fair of course. The 1959 event was captured on film by a camera from ATV's Midland Montage.
