Boulter Family Films: Wedding, Devon (1957)

There’s all the elements of a great wedding – hats, ribald graffiti, confetti, awkward relatives – in this short home movie of a wedding in Exeter from 1957.

Overview

Taken from the Boulter Family Films archive, this home movie shows a wedding attended by the East End Boulter family. The highlight must be the graffiti daubed in pink lipstick on the wedding car – “Tonight’s The Night” and the less optimistic “Once A Night Is Enough”. Also features some excellent confetti as well as interesting shots of 1950s faces and fashion. The venue is the Church of St Andrew, Stokeinteignhead, Devon, and guests include the Mayor of Tavistock.
