Abersoch - The Anchorage
Where better to bring 3 boys on a holiday than this house on the Benar Headland, Abersoch? Sea, sand, boats and fishing keep them well occupied.

Overview
Percy and Alice Healey from Heywood, Lancashire have found the perfect holiday let for themselves and their 3 sons – William (b.1916), Donald and Brian. On the Benar Headland, Abersoch, it offers a terrace from which to watch the races during Regatta Week (the fun shared with friends from the Whipp and Coulthard families) and steep steps from the garden to the beach for easy bathing. One son catches fresh mackerel but neither parent can tame the inflatable horse!
Percy Healey was Chair of Healey Brothers Ltd., a rope and twine manufacturing business founded by his grand-father in 1843, the family contributing substantially to the provision of schools, a swimming pool and a library in Heywood. Here Percy records what appears to be a very happy family holiday, providing a store of good memories to fall back on in later years when he himself had a severe stroke in 1936 and Donald was killed in 1940 aged just 21, the SS Fiscus on which he was second radio officer being torpedoed. William and Brian carried on the business and in 1968 it was acquired by British Ropes Ltd. The Cartridge Ropery, established in Heywood in 1843, is still in operation.
