The South West Film and Television Archive (SWFTA) is the regional film archive for the South West of England. Established in 1993, SWFTA's core collection comprises of the combined programme libraries of Westward Television and TSW (Television South West). The archive also cares for a significant number of donated film collections, both amateur and professional, dating back to the early 1900s.

Overview
Actor and singer David Soul is at Yelverton in Devon to appear in the film Mud released as The Stick Up (1977). The film stars David Soul as Duke Turnbeau, Pamela McMyler as Rosie McCratchit and is directed by Jeffrey Bloom. The interviewer reveals to David Soul that his song Silver Lady is top of the UK charts and we see his reaction. The song is written by Tony Macaulay and Geoff Stephens and stays top for three weeks providing David Soul with a second hit single.
Soul moved to the UK in the 1990s and took British citizenship in 2004. He turned down a professional baseball contract with the Chicago White Sox in order to study political science and while studying learned to play the guitar and decided to pursue a music career. He began singing on television as the covered man wearing a mask. After appearing on The Merv Griffin Show in 1966 he signed a contract with Columbia Pictures. His best known role is as Detective Ken Hutchinson or Hutch from the hit detective series Starsky and Hutch (1976-1979) where he partners Paul Michael Glazer’s Dave Starsky and they drive their trademark red and white Ford Gran Torino. David Soul admits to being fond of South Devon and Dartmoor.
