Overview

This candid home movie starts with young couples on the beach at Westgate on Sea. We see them sitting on lilos, larking about, playing with beach balls and eating shrimp. Inevitably perhaps after such beach scenes, the film then records the wedding of Jim and Monica. Ushers escort the arriving guests into the church before the bride herself arrives. A clock indicates passing time as the bride and groom exit the church and drive to the reception followed by their guests.

Leslie Goulden started the Canterbury Cine Society in 1934. It lasted for five successful years and saw the acquisition of a small studio where a number of ambitious dramatic films were made. The society also made documentaries and non-fiction films like the home movie seen here.
