Overview

Common British heritage includes large agricultural events such as the annual Bird and Rabbit Show in Kingsbridge. Agricultural societies up and down the country begin to stage shows for rabbit societies and bird fancier groups. Visitors to the shows are able to see competitions involving rabbits and fancy and rare birds. John Edward or Ted Watmough from Bradford was one of the first to influence competitions and he went on to found the magazine Fur and Feather.

Most agricultural shows have incorporated bird, rabbit and poultry sections. The Kingsbridge Show started in 1881. Fur and Feather has a wide readership and is now the official website of the British Rabbit Council.
