Purple Hearts
This Week investigates amphetamine use in a discussion with young people. This edition also features a report on Cyprus.
Overview
This Week reports in depth on the pills dubbed purple hearts by speaking to users, dealers and a medical expert in the studio. Popular with Mods, the drug was associated in the media with violence and possession of amphetamines was criminalised later in 1964.
As a full edition of the current affairs series, the programme features a separate report on the growing crisis between Greek and Turkish Cypriots.
