From its headquarters on Haydn Road at Sherwood in Nottingham Meridian Ltd's empire stretches across the East Midlands. The industry's history goes back to William Lee's 16th century stocking frame at Calverton where Meridian was still knitting in 1966. Generation upon generation have worked in the industry and the latest recruits are shown in the Meridian training centre threading needles against the clock to prepare them for the shop floor.
Previously known as J.B. Lewis the firm of Meridian Ltd later became part of the Courtaulds group.
