Flight to Berlin
Chris Petit’s sparse moody thriller begins with a mysterious death.
Director: Chris Petit
Overview
‘They asked me the wrong question’ says murder suspect Susannah after being interrogated by the police. She was found in the apartment of a known criminal but this turns out to be the least of her problems as her past begins to catch up with her. Brooding acting and stunning location shooting make this a compelling viewing experience.
Director Chris Petit made his name with Radio On, a British translation of the road-movie aesthetic developed by Wim Wenders during his 1970s films. For this film Petit travelled to West Germany itself, for the second of three films part-funded by Wenders' Road Movies Filmproduktion company (the third being Chinese Boxes, also from 1984).
