Overview

Aspley Guise villagers take part in 'Salute the Soldier' week, a national fundraising effort to encourage civilians to place their money in government accounts, as Britain prepares for a final assault on Nazi Germany. Celebrations begin with a parade and culminate on the village green with speeches, blessing ceremonies, sporting events and games. Later in the week, Invasion Day celebrations take place at The Manor, celebrating the Normandy landing on D-Day (June 6).
