Overview

Produced for the Brentwood Civic Society, the film visually tours the snaking road networks in and around the Essex town. Although unfortuntately the sound quality is poor, making commentary at times inaudible, visuals illustrate the subject of the film; existing and forthcoming road redevelopment schemes in and around Brentwood. Changes are clearly afoot, but are they an improvement to the existing road network? And if not, shouldn't the viewer take action?

Made and narrated by Denis Neale for the Brentwood Civic Trust. Unfortunately the sound quality is poor, with the commentary at times inaudible. Shot on Super 8 colour film, the sound would have been recorded by microphone and added later. Denis Neale was Engineering Manager at Ilford Ltd's Research Laboratory in Brentwood, Essex. He was a brilliantly inventive engineer and held a very large number of patents relating to electronic and photographic matters. In addition to the many commissioned films, some for the Brentwood Civic Trust, he also made many home movies.
