Miserable weather can't stop the great British public from turning out in force to see Princess Mary open a new park in Bexley Heath
From the collection of:
Overview
Umbrellas aloft, a large crowd watches Princess Mary, third child of George V, open Danson Park, a new public space created from a landscaped estate between Bexley and Welling. The film includes views of the lake, which lies at the centre of a park originally landscaped by Nathaniel Richmond, assistant to Capability Brown. The huge turn-out in dismal rain once again demonstrates the massive popularity of the royal family at this time.
