Victorian revelry on Morecambe Seafront.
Overview
In its early days film exhibition stood cheek by jowl with other forms of popular entertainment, but as this example shows, film was uniquely capable of recycling the hard work of entertainers as its own content. Produced by William Henry Youdale, a magic lantern exhibitor turned cinematographer from Cumbria, it’s possible that this film was made to be exhibited not just in Morecambe, but to the very audience that it features.
